Abstract

In accordance with the correlation between discharge and sediment transport,it is deduced that the fluctuation during the runoff and sediment process will reduce the water consumption for sediment transport,when a positive correlation exists between discharge and sediment transport.The analysis on the relevant observed data shows that the discharge and sediment in the natural channel of the Lower Yellower River is basically to be a positive correlation,and that the larger the correlation coefficient between discharge and sediment,the less the water consumption for sediment transport is and the higher the increment of the sediment transport efficiency is for the runoff and sediment process manually created through the flow and sediment regulation from Xiaolangdi Reservoir.
