The results of measurement of plasmatic arginine vasopressin(AVP)concentration in heroin addicts.

Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between plasmatic AVP concentration and heroin addicts.Methods The serum AVP were measured by radioimmuoassay(RIA) in 15 heroin addicts and 18 control subjects.Results The plasmatic AVP concentration were lower in herion addicts than in control subjects.There was significant difference between the two groups( t =26.39, P 0.01).Conclusions The results suggests that AVP function would be decreased in heroin addicts; The AVP concentration in heroin addicts were decreased with the increased time of heroin abuse.
