On Hu Shi's View of Culturally Saving the Nation

Hu Shi is a great master on Chinese modern academic history and cultural history.At beginning of last century,China was in abyss of semi-colonial and semi-feudal society,and was faced with a problem of going in what direction.Hu Shi attempted for foundation of an innovation of political building of China by means of thought,literature and art. He advocated the science and the democracy to save nation,but in vain his view could only serve as one of studying methodologies of cultural problem.
