Abstract

Objective To investigate the impact of regular blood glucose monitoring on blood glucose control benefits in elder patients with diabetes. Methods 110 cases of elderly type 2 diabetic patients that had been confirmed by CHSC(Community Health Service Center) in 2010-2011 annual management were involved in this study, they were randomly divided into intervention and control groups,55 cases in each group;in order to study the difference of the two groups of patients on glycemic control, regular monitoring of blood glucose were tested in the intervention group when glycemic index were tested in the control group according to the wishes of patients in 12 months of observation. Results Compared with the control group, patients in intervention group had better control in fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose[2hPG:(12.47±2.10) mmol/L to(11.09±1.98) mmol/L] glycemic well-controlled rate(18.4% to 31.6%),glycosylated hemoglobin(7.22%±1.03% to 6.60%±0.87%) and HbA1c well-controlled rate(30.8% to 47.5%,P0.05).Conclusion Regular blood glucose monitoring allowed diabetic patients to consciously choose a lifestyle conducive to the treatment of blood glucose control, easy to obtain and maintain specific glycemic goals.Blood glucose monitoring was an important part of diabetes management, blood glucose monitoring, the results can be used to reflect the effect of diet therapy, exercise therapy and drug therapy, and instructive guide the adjustment of the treatment program.
