Abstract

Objective: To expolore the mechanism of ginger-partitioned moxibustion in the treatment of cold-damp stagnation type Primary Dysmenorrhea(PD) patients. Methods: A total of 209 PD patients were randomized into moxibustion group(n=105) who were treated with ginger-partitioned moxibustion, and control group(n=104) who were asked to take Yueyueshu Granules. Before and after 3 courses' treatments,Menstrual ProstaglandinF2α(PGF2α) and Serum PGF2α Contents in patients partly and normal women experiencing menstrual period were determined. Results: After the treatment, the therapeutic effect of moxibustion group was significantly better than that of control group(P0.05).After the treatment,self-comparison of both moxibusion and control groups showed that menstrual and serum PGF2α decreased significantly, and the therapeutic effect of moxibusion goup was markedly superior than that of contorl group in lowing menstrual and serum PGF2α(P0.05).Conclusion: Ginger-partitioned moxibusion is effective in relieving PD patients' abdominal pain, which may be closely associated with its actions in PGF2α contents.
