Distributional characteristics of apolipoprotein A5 gene-12238T>C polymorphism and association with serum lipid in healthy Han and Uygur population in Xinjiang

Objective To explore the distributional characteristics of apolipoprotein A5 gene-12238TC polymorphism in healthy Han and Uygur population in Xinjiang.Methods A total of 389 Uygur and 419 Han healthy subjects were detected the genotypes of the apolipoprotein A5 gene-12238TC polymorphism with polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism.Results The frequencies of TT,TC and CC genotype of apolipoprotein A5 gene-12238TC were 39.58%,48.07% and 12.34% in Uygur group,and 33.17%,46.06%,20.76% in Han group,which showed a significant difference in the distribution of genotypes between two groups(P0.01).There was a significant difference in serum triacylglycerol levels between individuals in two groups(P0.05),and the individuals carrying CC and TC genotypes had lower level of serum triacylglycerol than those carrying TT genotype in two groups.Conclusion Apolipoprotein A5 gene-12238TC polymorphism is different between Uygur and Han population in Xinjiang,which may be associated with the level of serum triacylglycerol.
