The efficacy of trimetazidine in chronic congestive heart failure

Abstract
Objective To observe the clin ic al effects and side effects of trimetazidine in chronic congestive heart failure patients.Methods 115 congestive heart failure patients were ra ndomly divided into two groups.The control group(n=50) was given the routine medicine.The trimetazidine group(n=65) was administ ered trimetazidine on the basis of routine treatment.The therapy period was 12 w eeks.We observed the heart functional classification and echocardiography regula rly.Results The total effect rate of trimetazidine group was 92 .3%.It had better outcome than the control group(66.0%,P0.01). Trimetazidine could improve the signs and symptoms of chronic congestive heart f ailure.The left ventricular ejection fraction and short axis shortening rate wer e improved significantly(P0.01 or 0.05).There was no serious s ide effect in the trimetazidine group.Conclusion Trimetazidine may improve the heart function of chronic congestive heart failure patients on t he basis of routine treatment,which is a safety and effectual method to treat ch ronic congestive heart failure.
