Treating pediatric epilepsy from liver and spleen by professor ZHAO Jianjun

Professor ZHAO considers that children have delicate organs and insufficient Qi,improper feeding,emotional upset,or frightened inside the womb all can cause epilepsy,so children with this disease must be taken care of by their parents. When the liver lose nourish,it effects the qi activity; when spleen is weak,it produce inner-wind; and stagnation of liver qi aggravate the decline of transport function of spleen. Professor ZHAO Jianjun ascribes children epilepsy,one of the intractable epilepsy,to wind,fire,phlegm,start,ect.,among them phlegm and wind-evil are the most disease-causing factors. In early period of treatment,according to professor Zhao,doctors should pay attention to both disease and syndrome differentiation and use the method of relaxing the liver and resolving the depression,calming the frightened and tranquilize epilepsy,which could cure the disease in symptom and resource. In clinical treatment,wind,phlegm and pathogenic fire tend to cause disease,so dizzinessrelieving and phlegm-reducing are mainly used in the treatment. Pediatric epilepsy for a long time would make ill into the collaterals,so insect drugs are mainly used in the treatment,such as scorpion,centipede,and bombyx batryticatus etc.
