Abstract

Objective To study the effects of azone, propylene glycol, oleic acid, and their combination on the percutaneous absorption of complex scutellaria cataplasm in vitro. Methods Complex scutellaria cataplasm containing different transdermal enhancers was prepared.Using Franz diffusion cell, the baicalin was determined by HPLC to investigate the effects of different transdermal enhancers in percutaneous absorption. Results The penetration rate increased with the existence of transdermal enhancers:PG+azonePG+OAOA+azoneno transdermal enhancers. The rate of percutaneous absorption was 154.36 μg/(cm2·h)when the mixed transdermal enhancers of azone and propylene glycol in the ratio of 1.5%∶1.5% was used. Conclusion The complex transdermal enhancers could enhance the penetration rate of baicalin, and the mixed transdermal enhancers of azone and propylene glycol in the ratio of 1.5%∶1.5% is more effective.
