Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of different penetration enhancer on the transdermal permeation of Complex Scutellaria Baicalensis cataplasm.METHODS:The transdermal permeation test was performed ex vivo on a test unit with normal saline as reception liquid and the content of Baicalin in the delivery liquid was determined by HPLC which determined penetration enhancer of the best match.RESULTS:All the penetration enhancers could enhance the permeation delivery rate of Baicalin, with the mixed penetration enhancers showing higher potency. The maximum penetration rate of Baicalin was obtained when the ratio of oleic acid∶propylene glycol∶azone=2∶2∶1.CONCLUSION:The mixed penetration enhancers were satisfactory in enhancing the transdermal delivery rate of Baicalin.
