Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between ambulatory pulse pressure and left ventricular hypertension in essential hypertension.Methods Echocardiography were performed, according to their left ventricular mass index (LVMI), 242 patients with essential hypertension were divided into two groups: LVH group (LVMI120g/m2 in man, and115g /m2 in woman, n=64) and non -LVH group (n=178), all patients were monitored 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure.Results LVH group showed higher levels of 24-hour pulse pressure, day time pulse pressure, night time pulse pressure than those in non -LVH group (P0.05). In linear correlation analysis, age, SBP, PP was positive correlation with LVMI (P0.05). Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the changes in average levels of 24-hour pulse pressure were important influence factor to LVMI(P0.01).Conclusion The higher levels of 24-hour pulse pressure are close correlation with LVH and especially important influence factor to LVH in patients with essential hypertension.
