Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) and 24-hour mean pulse pressure(PP),large arterial diameter in hypertension. Methods Eighty patients with essential hypertension were divided into LVH and non LVH groups, and observed in ambulatory PP,left ventricular mass index(LVMI) and large arterial diameter with 24-hour noninvasive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and echocardiography. All the data were analyzed Results 24-hour mean PP and aortic root dimension(AOD) were significant difference between patients with LVH and non LVH(P0.01),LVMI was related to ambulatory PP(r=0.3,P0.01) and AOD(r=0.5,P(0.01)).Conclusion Ambulatory PP and large arterial diameter characterized the large arterial compliance in patients with LVH in essential hypertension.
