Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To study p53 protein and Ki-67 expressions in patients with malignant fibrous histiocytom-MFH and their clinical significance.METHODS: The SP immunohistochemical method was employed to examine the expressions of p53 protein and Ki-67 in 50 cases of MFH. RESULTS: The positive rates of p53 protein and Ki-67 expressions were 32.0%(16/50) and 56.0%((28/50)),respectively. In cases of recurrence and metastasis, the positive rates of p53 protein and Ki-67 expressions were 48.0%(12/25) and 68.0%(17/25), respectively. In cases of nonrecurrence and nonmetastasis, the positive rates of p53 protein and Ki-67 expressions were 16.0%(4/25) and 40.0%(10/25), respectively. In less than 5 year survival cases, the positive rates of p53 protein and Ki-67 expressions were 48.1%(13/27) and 70.4%(19/27). In over 5 year survival cases, the positive rates of p53 protein and Ki-67 expressions were 17.4%(4/23) and 39.1%(9/23). The expressions of p53 protein and Ki-67 were related to the recurrence and metastasis of MFH, and survival rate of the patients,P0.05. The expression of p53 protein was closely related to that of Ki-67,P0.05. CONCLUSIONS: The over expressions of p53 and Ki-67 are related to recurrence and metastasis of MFH, and survival rate of the patients. The expressions of both of them are colosly related and can serve as two markers of judging prognosis of the patients.
