Abstract

Objective: To explore the relationship between the expression of p53 and Ki-67 with pathologic grades, clinical stages and recurrence of bladder carcinoma and to find out the basic of clinical diagnosis and treatment of bladder carcinoma. Methods:We retrospectively analyzed clinical information and p53(20% was positive),Ki-67 expression(20% was positive) of 149 patients with bladder carcinoma. Results:Positive expressions inⅠ-Ⅱ grade tumors were 58.8%(p53) and 64.7%(Ki-67) respectively. The positive expressions inⅢ grade tumor were 80.0%(p53) and 90.0%(Ki-67).The differences of the gene expression in two groups had statistical significance(P0.05).The expression rates in Ta-T1(superficial type) tumors were 50.0%(p53) and 52.4%(Ki-67).The expression rates in T2-T4(invasive type) tumors were 80.0%(p53) and 92.3%(Ki-67).The expressions of p53 and Ki-67 in invasive type bladder carcinoma were both higher than that in the superficial type and the differences had statistical significance(P0.05).The expression rate in the high-grade and advanced-stage group(73.3%,73.8%) was higher than thatin the low-grade and early-stage group(44.5%,32.1%).The difference had statistical significance(P0.005).The recurrence rate of p53 and Ki-67 coexpression positive was 37.5%.The recurrence rate of the single positive expression and negative expression was 15.6%.The difference between the two groups was statistical significant(χ2=7.46,P0.01).Conclusion:The expression of p53 and Ki-67 had a close relationship with clinical stages and pathologic grades of the bladder carcinoma. The overexpression of p53 and Ki-67 protein in the bladder carcinoma suggests high malignancy and poor prognosis. The recurrence rate in the group of p53 and Ki-67 positive co-expression was higher than thatin the group of single positive and negative, which suggests that p53 and Ki-67 positive co-expression has a correlation with bladder carcinoma recurrence.
