The Relative Carrying Capacity of Resources and Sustainable Development of Xinjiang

According to the theory and method of relative carrying capacity of resources,relative carrying capacity of land resources,relative carrying capacity of economy resources and synthetic carrying capacity in Xinjiang from 1996 to 2008 was computed and analyzed.The result of the study showed: ① Land resources is the main carrying capacity in Xinjiang.In Xinjiang's comprehensive carrying capacity,the contribution made by the carrying capacity of land resources is greater than that made by the capacity of economic resources.② The comprehensive carrying capacity in Xinjiang exceeds the actual population's need and it is in affluence.③ The imbalance between the relative carrying capacity of land resources and that of economic resources is a significant problem to be solved in the strategy of sustainable development in Xinjiang.
