Abstract
Objective To know the antimicrobial efficacy in vitro of seven antibacterial products containing different Chinese herbal medicines.Method The bacterial inhibition ring test was used to carry out laboratory observation. Results Stock solutions of all the seven antimicrobial products had bacteriostatic effects on Staphylococcus aureus.Products 1,4,5 and 7 presented inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli and Candida albicans.Product 2 had no bacteriostatic effect on Escherichia coli, products 2,3 and 6 had no any inhibitory effect on Candida albicans. Conclusions Majority of the 7 antimicrobial products tested had inhibitory effect on test bacteria.Different Chinese herbal medicines have different antimicrobial effects.
