Abstract

Objective To investigate the short-term and long-term efficacies of electrical multi-direction needling in treating cervical spondylosis. Methods One hundred and forty patients with were randomly allocated to multi-direction needling and conventional acupuncture groups. The same points were selected in the two groups.VAS score was counted before treatment and after one and two courses of treatment.A follow-up was performed at 6 and 12 months after the end of treatment. The recurrence rates were examined separately. Results A paired t-test showed a significant pre-/post-treatment difference in VAS score in the two groups(P0.05).The total efficacy rate was significantly higher in the multi-direction needling group than in the conventional acupuncture group(P0.05).A 12 months’follow-up showed that the recurrence rate was significantly lower in the multi-direction needling group than in the conventional acupuncture group(P0.05).Conclusion The pain was relieved in both group of cervical spondylosis patients, but both the short-term and long-term therapeutic effects were better in the multi-direction needling group than in the conventional acupuncture group.
