Abstract
Objective To study the effect of soybean isoflavone (SI) on SOD, GSH-Px activity and MDA content of body in hyperlipemia rats. Methods Fifty Wister rats were randomly divided into five groups and fed on foundation feed (normal control, NC), high fat feed (high control, HC), and high fat feed mixed with 30 mg/kg, 90 mg/kg and 270 mg/kg soybean isoflavone respectively. The experiment lasted for 6 weeks. Results Compared with NC group, the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in liver and brain in HC group was significantly decreased, but MDA content was significantly increased ( P 0.01). Compared with high dose group, SI at low and middle dose increased significantly the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in liver and brain ( P 0.01), but decreased MDA content. Conclusions SI at moderate dose can increase the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in liver and brain, and decrease the MDA content significantly.
