Abstract
Objective: To investigate the value of thyroid nodule calcification in the differential diagnosis of thyroid benign and malignant lesions. Methods: select 301 cases with thyroid nodule were retrospective analyzed. Clinical significance of calcification in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant nodules were analyzed. Results: 142 cases showed calcification delected by ultrasound in the 301 thyroid nodules, accounted for 47%. Among 123 cases with microcalcification,76 cases were malignant, accounted for 62%. Among 13 cases with coarser calcification,4 cases were malignant, accounted for 31%. 6cases with cambered calcification all were benign. Conclusion: Ultrasound for thyroid nodule calcification especially microcalcification, shows significance in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant nodules.
