Abstract
The fundamental goal of college English teaching is to develop the students' communicative competence in cross-cultural communication. The complementary relationship between language and culture makes culture teaching play an important role in language teaching. However, there is a severe cultural imbalance which leads to ignorance of Chinese culture and failure in cross-cultural communication. Therefore,it is necessary to enlarge the input of Chinese culture in college English teaching to make balanced development between Western culture and Chinese culture, which will not only improve the students' inter-cultural communicative competence, but also pass down Chinese culture.
