Epidemiologic characteristics of influenza outbreaks in Futian district of Shenzhen in 2008-2010

Abstract

Objective To describe and analyze the prevalence characters of flu outbreaks in Futian district from 2008 to 2010.Method Descriptive epidemiological method was applied to analyze characteristics of flu outbreaks.Results It was found that 100 influenza outbreaks involving in 975 cases were reported,of which the outbreaks of flu virus of H1N1,type A and type B were 28,18 and 40,respectively.The average prevalence is 4.52%.The average spacing interval of initial case and reporting is 3.78 days.The outbreak peak is from March to June and September,the influenza H1N1,A and B are alternating throughout the year,and the peak of September was mainly caused by influenza H1N1.The outbreaks mainly occurred in primary schools,in which 63 outbreaks were reported involving 521 cases,accounting for 65.53% of the total number of incidence.Conclusions Influenza outbreaks are common in schools.It is necessary to strengthen the health intervention in school to prevent and control the outbreaks of influenza.
