Liu Xie's literary thought stems from all Confucian classics.The idea of learning from Confucian classics is a vital clue throughout Wen Xin Diao Long.The character meanings of Zong(宗)and Jing(经)and the origin of the name of Jing(经)have contained the requirements and significance of imitating classics.Liu Xie's attitude towards Confucian classics comes from Confucian tradition.The six classics which are deleted and discussed by Kong Zi are regarded as the genuine classics and admired by Liu xie.He discusses the literary strategies and artistic features and establishes the writing standard according to the six Confucian classics.
