Abstract
Objective To evaluate the modified incision in parotidectomy.Method Sixty-one patients underwent parotidectomy were randomly and equally divided into two groups. One group was performed traditionary incision for parotidectomy, another group was performed modified incision for parotidectom. All cases was operated with preserving the fascia parotideomasseterica.Facial nerve dissection fron main trunk to the peripheral branches or from cervicalbranches to main trunk in all cases. The follow up study included the cosmetic effect of this incision and the clinical outcome. Results There was significant difference in satisfaction between two groups. There were no significant differences between two groups in operating time, blood loss, temporary facial paralysis, salivary fistula and Frey'ssyndrome. Conclusion The modified incision for parotidectomy can be performed well through the modified incision and good aestheticresults.
