Revision endoscopic sinus surgery of recurrent sinusitis and nasal polyps

Abstract
Objective To summarige the clinical effect and experience of revision endoscopic sinus surgery for the patients with recurrent sinusitis and nasal polyps. Methods Eight-four patients with recurrent sinusitis and nasal polyps had been operated by revision endoscopic sinus surgery. Results Fifty-one cases of 84 were cured, 17 improved, 16 ineffective. The cure rate was 60.7% with total effective rate 80.9% and ineffection rate 19.1%. Conclusion Revision endoscopic sinus surgery is a valuable way to treat recurrent sinusitis and nasal polyps. Anatomic marks are security elements for provicting orientation and direction. Correct choice of operation methods and excellent operative skill is the key to success. Structure variation, increased bleeding, and recurrent polyposis are the causes of failure.
