Abstract

Objective To study the surgical significance of revision endoscopic sinus surgery for recurrent sinusitis and polyps. Method Revision endoscopic sinus surgery was performed on 196 cases with recurrent sinusitis and polyps. Results Follow-up for more than 6 months, 141 cases were curried (71.9%) and 48 improved (24.5%) with the total effective rate of 97.6%. the other 7 cases were ineffective (3.6%). All the complications consist of cerebrospinal fistula in 1, orbital hematoma in 2, profuse bleeding in 4 and increased tearing in 2 patients. Conclusion Revision endoscopic sinus surgery was advised in cases of recurrent sinusitis and polyps. Sufficient and appropriate anatomic structures and mastering excellent endoscopic surgical skill are the keys to improve the effective rate of revision endoscopic sinus surgery.
