The Description Model of Vernacular Landscape under the View of Landscape Architecture

Landscape description, which is the first step of the landscape planning and design, is the explanation of the various attributes and characteristics of landscape, and its function is to help understand the landscape mechanism. This research attempts to construct an appropriate description model of vernacular landscape. At the first, this study puts forward the general system descriptive model based on the scientific modeling principles, and uses the model to carries on a comparative analysis of vernacular landscape under the view of landscape ecology, human geography, architecture, aesthetics and other disciplines. And then, based on the combination of the characteristics of all kinds of disciplines and combining with the particularity of landscape architecture, this study puts forward the description model of vernacular landscape under the view of landscape architecture, which consists of four part of the elements description, the structure description, the state description and the process description.
