Abstract
Objective To understand the current structure of blood donors in Dalian and to provide evidence on a scientific basis for the promotion of voluntary blood donation. Methods The sex,age,educational level and occupation of voluntary blood donors from 2012 to 2013 in Dalian were analyzed. Statistical analysis was done by SPSS 18. 0. Results There were significantly more male donors than female donors. The ratio of male and female donors was 1. 46∶ 1 in Dalian. The majority of voluntary blood donors had unknown employment,had educational level less than high school,and ranged from 18 to 35 years old. Conclusion Distinct characteristics of voluntary blood donors could be found based on their sex,age,education level and occupations. Different recruitment strategies should be provided for different populations of blood donors.
