Abstract
Butyraldehyde 1,2-propanediol acetal was synthesized from butyraldehyde and 1,2-propanediol in the presence of H_3PW_ 12O_ 40/PAn. The factors influencing the synthesis were discussed and the best conditions were found out. The optimum conditions are: the molar ratio of butyraldehyde to 1,2-propanediol is 1∶1.2, and the amount of catalyst used is 0.5% of feed stocks, and the reaction time is 50 min. H_3PW_ 12O_ 40/PAn is an excellent catalyst for synthesizing butyraldehyde 1,2-propanediol acetal and the yield can be up to 87.9%.
