Abstract

In the cultural environment where west-chauvinism still prevails and the situation of multicultural co-existence has not yet been formed, there exist antagonisms as well as misunderstandings between strong cultures and week cultures, between native cultures and colony cultures. At the same time, under the influence of economic globalization, cultures and literatures of different nationalities are mingling with and assimilating each other. In this context, the positional re-establishment of Chinese literature requires inspection and definition of the status and identity of Chinese culture and literature from the perspective of globalization. The following are the strategies proposed by the author of this thesis for Chinese literature to meet the challenge of cultural globalization: 1. Seek the Chinese literary tradition and Chinese artistic spirits in the context of globalization; 2. Vitalize Chinese national literature with Chinese national spirits so as to form modern Chinese literary style.
