Exploring the Functions of College English Classroom Teaching——Reflections on Fostering Learner Autonomy for English Learning

As teaching reform in Colllege English develops and advances,recent years has witnessed great changes in College English Teaching.An important indicator of the successful reform of College English teaching is the development of the autonomous learning ability on the part of college students.In Chinese context,attention should be given to the vital role of classroom teaching in students'language learning process.Based on the understanding of the nature of learner autonomy,we also need to give our thoughts to the purpose and functions of classroom teaching against the background of College English teaching reform.This paper argues,through the effective integration of classroom teaching and students'autonomus learning,that teachers may help students to become successful autonomous learners.
