Abstract
Objective To study the effect of Chinese kidney-tonifying drugs on bone histomorphometry of ovariectomized rats. Methods Osteoporosis model was built by ovariectomized rats to explore the different dosages of Chines kidney-tonifying drugs on their bone histomorphometry. Results The distribution, arrangement, space and thickness of trabecular in ovariectomized rats were improved under light microscope. Histomorphometry showed that the trabecular bone volume (TBV%) and mean trabecular thickness value (MTT) were imcreased with high and moderate dosage of durgs, comparing to those of controls ( P0.05 ), which had equivalent effect as nilestriol (P0.05). The TBV% increased with low dosage of drug, compared to that in controls (P0.05). Conclusions Chinese kidney-tonifying drugs could improve the bone histomorphometry of ovariectomized rats.
