Abstract

Objective To investigate the epidemiological situation of the main human intestinal nematode infection in Qinghai Province. Methods Modified Kato-Katz's thick smear and cellophane tape swab techniques were used for detection of human intestinal parasite infection. Results 3 species of nematodes were detected. The infection rates of Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura and Enterobius vermicularis were 8.89%, 0.06% and 6.65%, respectively. The infection rates of A. lumbricoides were 8.02% in men and 9.71% in women. The infection rates of E. vermicularis were 6.49% in male and 6.83% in female. The infection rates of A. lumbricoides were significantly different among different areas, sexes, age groups, ethnic groups and occupations. The infection rates of E. vermicularis were significantly different among different areas and age groups. Conclusion Human infection of A. lumbricoides and E. vermicularis were severe in Qinghai Province. Health education, parasites control in schools and nurserys should be strengthened.
