Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of ginsenoside(GS) on expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) and concentration of nitric oxide(NO) in THP-1 cell line induced by β-amyloid(Aβ)1-40.Methods The concentration of nitric oxide was determined by Griess reagent in supernatant of THP-1 cells induced by Aβ.The content of iNOS was measured by Western blotting. Results expression of iNOS and concentration of NO in Aβ model group were significantly higher than those in control group, while the GS treatment reduced expression of iNOS and concentration of NO obviously in THP-1 cells induced by Aβ.Compared with model group, expression of iNOS and concentration of NO were remarkably lower.Ginsenoside causes dose-dependent decrease in expression of iNOS and concentration of NO.Conclusions GS significantly inhibited expression of iNOS and reduced secretion of NO in THP-1 monocytes induced by Aβ.GS might provide a novel therapy for AD.
