Abstract

Objective: To search the value of central venous catheter in the clinical application for malignant effusion in serous membrane cavity. Methods: The fluid drown from thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity by subcutaneous puncture and placing catheter was made the routine examination and cytologic examination and after entirely draining the effusion, the drugs was injected into the cavity. Results: The punctures were successfully performed in a total of 60 cases in thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity. The diagnosis of 9 cases was confirmed by the cytologic examination of the fluid. Conclusions: Central venous catheter is placed safely and conveniently in the puncture of thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity. The technique is worthy to be widely used.
