Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investige the influence of paliperidone extended-release tablets on the social function and quality of life in patients with schizophrenia to provide reference for its clinical application.METHODS Double-blind controlled study design was adopted.140 Patients were randomly assigned to study group to receive paliperidone extended-release tablets(70 patients) or control group to receive ziprasidone(70 patients) for 8 weeks.RESULTS The Overall Quality Of Life Rating Scale(GQOLI-74) scores of the two groups were significantly improved after treatment(P0.01).The GQOLI-74 factor scores and total scores of paliperidone group were significantly higher than those of ziprasidone group(P0.05).After treatment, the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS) scores of both groups were decreased significantly(P0.01).The PANSS scores of paliperidone group were significantly lower than those of ziprasidone group(P0.05).Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS)showed that both groups had no serious side effects with no significant differences(P0.05).CONCLUSION Paliperidone extended-release tablets have better efficacy than ziprasidone and can improve the quality of life and social function in patients with schizophrenia(P0.05).
