Abstract
Influence of glucose on the cell dry weight of Spirulina platensis was studied. The results showed that when glucose concentration was 3.0 g/L,the cell dry weight was up to the highest, which was 1.29 times to the same culture without glucose. At the same time,we found that mixotrophic culture of Spirulina platensis used the medium of Zarrouk without sterilizling was feasible. The mechanisms maybe was that glucose influences the physiological and metabolism of Spirulina platensis cells and makes the whole cells in comparative active physiological condition,so result in photosynthetic reaction rate increasing, spirulina saturated value, dark light breathing and compensation points increasing significantly, the biomass of Spirulina platensis improving greatly compared with phototrophic culture.
