Abstract
The different concentrations of water-retaining agent on cucumber seedlings were studied by soilless culture. The re-sults showed that the water-retaining agent could increase substrate moisture. All treatments decreased emergence rate but 0.1% treatment.Suitable concentration could improve seedling quality, root activity and leaf water content, but higher concentration treatments inhibited cucumber seedlings growth.By comprehensive analysis,0.5% was the best treatment in this experiment.
