Observations on the Therapeutic Effect of Acupuncture on the Acute Migraine Attack

Objective To investigate the clinical analgesic effect of acupuncture on the acute migraine attack.Methods One hundred and forty-two migraine patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups,71 cases each.The treatment group received acupuncture and the control group,oral administration of analgesics.Headache VAS scores and weighted values were compare between the two groups before and after treatment.Results There was a statistically significant pre-/post-treatment difference in the VAS score in both groups(P0.05).There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in both the VAS score and the pre-/post-treatment VAS score difference between the treatment and control groups(P0.05).The total efficacy rate was 95.6% in the treatment group and 89.9% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture has a good analgesic effect in treating the acute migraine attack.Its analgesic effect is superior to that of oral analgesics.
