Significance of detection of serum Cystatin C in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy

Objective To explore the significance of early detection of serum Cystatin C(Cys C) in type 2 diabetic nephropathy(T2DM).Methods 80 diabetic patients with T2DM were divided into Group DN and Group NDN according to the BUN and Cr level with 53 healthy people as the control group.The HbA1c,BUN,Cr,Cys C in three groups were detected and analyzed.Results The value of HbA1c,Cr,BUN and Cys C in the 3 groups had significant difference(P0.01).The Cys C level in Group DN was averagely higher than that in Group NDN and the control group(P0.01).The value difference of Cr,BUN and Cys C in Group NDN and the control group had no statistical significance(P0.05).The HbA1c level in Group DN and NDN suggested separate significant difference from that of the control group(P0.05),while the HbA1c level between Group DN and NDN showed no difference(P0.05).Cys C in Group DN separately had obvious positive correlation with the variables between BUN and Cr(r=0.542,P0.05;r=0.781,P0.01).Conclusion Cys C can be a role indicator for early diagnosis of renal function impairment in T2DM.
