Value of serum cystatin C detection in diagnosis of early diabetic nephropathy

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical value of serum cystatin C(Cys C)level in the early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy(DN). Methods 126 patients with diabetic mellitus(DM)were selected and devided into the simple DM group(66 patients)and the early DN group(60 patients).And another 60 healthy subjects were selected as the control group.The levels of serum creatinine(Scr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN)and Cys C were detected and analyzed. Results The level of Cys C in early DN group was significantly higher than that in the simply DM group and the control group(P0.01),but the Scr,BUN and Ccr levels between the simply DM group and the early DN group were not significantly different(P0.05);the Cys C-positive detection rate in early DN group was 58.33%,which was significantly higher than the Scr(21.67%,P0.01)and the BUN(20.00%,P0.01);the level of CysC in early DN group showed a highly positive correlation with Scr,BUN(P0.01). Conclusion Serum Cys C is a sensitive indicator in early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy.
