Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between the expressions of VEGF,COX -2 in breast carcinoma and the clinicopathologic characteristics of breast cancer. Methods The expressions of VEGF、COX-2 in different breast tissues were measured by using streptavidin-peroxidase immunohistochemistry. Results The expression of VEGF and COX-2 in ductal breast carcinoma obviously raised. There was significant difference in the expressions of VEGF 、 COX-2 in normal breast, fibroadenona and breast cancer(P0.01).The positive expression rates of VEGF and COX-2 in invasive ductal breast cancer were higher than that in intraductal breast cancer (80% vs 70%,77.1% vs 40%,respectively).Obvious difference of the expressions of COX-2 existed between the two groups(P0.05),but there was no difference in the expression of VEGF(P0.05).Significant correlations existed between the positive expression of VEGF in invasive ductal breast cancer and the TNM stage, the metastasis of lymph nodes of tumor(P0.05,P0.01),but not with the size of tumor(P0.05).There were no relationship between the expression of COX-2 in invasive ductal breast cancer and clinical stage, lymph nodes metastasis condition, and the size of tumor(P0.05).The expressions of VEGF and COX-2 in ductal breast cancer showed positive relative relationship(r=0.98,P0.05).Conclusions The high expressions of VEGF and COX-2 play an important role in the occuring and development of breast cancer. The two factors may be used as important biological markers in breast cancer.
