Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression and significance of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) in invasive ductal carcinoma(IDC) of breast. Methods:SP immuneohischemical technique was used to test the expression of COX-2 and VEGF in 100 cases of breast cancer samples and 40 cases of benign breast lesions. The relationships between COX-2, VEGF and biological behavior were observed. Results:The ratio of positive expression of COX-2 is 54%, having statistical significance compared with that of the control group (P=0.000). The ratio of positive expression of VEGF is 66%, having significant difference with that of the control group (P=0.000). The expression of COX-2 was significantly correlated with VEGF (P0.05).Both of them have relation with the non-tumor survival rate. Conclusion:The high expression of COX-2 and VEGF in breast cancer suggests as a major cause that affects the prognosis on patients with breast cancer. COX-2 and VEGF could act as the quota of determining breast cancer prognosis and effect of chemotherapy.
