Abstract

Objective: To explore the preventive effects of long-term medium load endurance exercise and grape seed proanthocyanidins ( GSP ) intervention on abnormal levels of lipid and free radicals. Method:A total of 32 rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: normal diet group ( roup A), high fat diet group ( group B), high fat diet plus GSP group (group C), high fat diet plus exercise group (group D).Group B, C and D rats were fed with high-fat diet. At the same time groups C and D rats with high-fat diet feeding were respectively given GSP or medium load endurance run intervention for 9 weeks. In other three groups without GSP in- tervention, were intervened with the same weight dose of placebo. Rats' serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and superoxide dismutase(SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA ) levels were compared. Result: In groups B, C and D rats' serum TC, TG, LDL-C concentrations increased significantly and HDL-C concentration decreased significantly, activity of serum SOD decreased significantly and content of MDA increased obviously. In groups C and D rats' serum TC, TG, LDL-C concentrations were lower than those in B group, LDC and TG concentrations on group D were lower than those in group C. HDL-concentration of group D was higher than that in group B; in groups C and D rats, activities of serum SOD were higher than that in group B, contents of MDA were lower than that in group B. Conclusion: The intervention effect of long-term medium load endurance exercise or GSP on the informing of lipid abnormalities in rats fed with high fat diet present a certain resistance, but the resistance effect of GSP is not so better than exerciser.Long-term medium load endurance run or GSP intervention can improve SOD activity in dyslipidemia rat, thus reducing the lipid peroxidation.
