Abstract

Liang Qi-chao founded and managed journals of Miscellany for Citizens and New Novels about 1902.So Liang's so-called revolution in the field of novelists had a very close relation with his On Citizen. What is discussed in this article is the 'new' content of On Citizens, which provided theoretical support for the revolution in the field of novelists, and how Public Morality was invented. This article pointed out the logical transformation of the scheme of On Citizens: how public was pushed forward to personal morality, namely coming back to the traditional morality standard of Yang-ming's Theory.
