Abstract
An experiment was conducted in 1994 to 1995 in order to study the relationship between genetic divergence and heterosis in sweet corn. Results showed that the relationship between genetic divergence and yield heterosis in sweet corn could be described as Hc=a+bD+cD 2.The yield heterosis of F 1 hybrids could be predicted from the genetic divergency of their parental lines according to this model, but no definite relationship between parental genetic divergence and the heterosis of sugar content of F 1 hybrids could be found. There was no much sense in clustering parental lines for prediction of heterosis.
