Abstract
An experiment was conducted in 1990 to 1991 at the university,to study the relationshipsbetween genetic distance,cluster analysis and heterosis in popcorn,Results showed that thereis no sense in clustoring parental lines for prediction of heterosis,but blood pedigree may be i-dentified from cluster analysis.The relation between genetic divergence or distance and yieldhetreosis can be described as Hc=a+d * D+c * D~2.The yield heterosis of F_1 hybrids can bepredieted from the genetic distances of their parental lines according to thism odel.but no defi-nite relation could be found between parental genetic divergence and the quality heterosis of F_1hybrids.
