Abstract
Expounds the concept of empty container allocation and container's circulative process under intermodal transpora-tiont,analyzes what results in the problem of empty container.And then,it points out,to realize the goal of empty container allocation at the lowest cost,we must take the three elements of container allocation,which are allocation route,quantity and renting decision,into consideration,give the expression of the cost of empty container allocation according to them and present the empty container allocation model.Through the mathematical programming software lingo,the model is fol-lowed by a numerical example,which shows the model is practical and efficient.
