Abstract

The polysaccharides were extracted from tieh-kwan-yin with microwave method, and the antioxidant activities of the polysaccharides were discussed as well.In order to find out the best extraction condition,4 factors of extraction, they were, microwave power, microwave processing time, extraction temperature and solid-to-liquid ratio, were adopted to build an orthogonal experiment. Results showed that the yield of crude polysaccharides increased with the microwave power and microwave processing time. However, when solid-to-liquid ratio increased, the yield first increased and then decreased. The optimum extraction conditions were as follows:microwave power 375 W,microwave processing time 180 s,extraction temperature 60 ℃ and solid-to-liquid ratio 1∶30.The results of antioxidant activities experiments illustrated that the polysaccharides had good ability to scavenge superoxide anion and hydroxyl free radicals, and that the scavenging ability was related with the concentrations obviously in certain range.Microwave processing within the range of experiments had no marked effect on the antioxidant activities of polysaccharides.
