Abstract
Objective To explore the abnormal expression of estrogen receptor(ER)α and β in pathogenesis of endometrial hyperplasia. Methods Using immunohistochemistry and semi-quantitive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),we examined the expression of ER α、ER β and their mRNA in 18 specimens of normal endometrium and 47 endometrial hyperplasia. Results ① The expression of ER β mRNA in normal edmetrium was lower than in endometrial hyperplasia.② The expression of ER α and its mRNA in atypical hyperplasia was significantly lower than in simple hyperplasia and complex hyperplsia, while the expressions of ER β and its mRNA in three groups above presented no significant difference. Conclusions The abnormal expression of ER β mRNA was closely related to the pathogenesis of endometrial hyperplasia.Decreased expression of ER α and its mRNA might associated with atypical hyperplasia.
