Abstract
Seismic disaster and damage of masonry buildings of the primary and middle school in the disaster area of Ningqiang in Hanzhong city caused by Wenchuan earthquake with Ms 8.0,were investigated and researched in detail by the authors.Based on the domestic seismic design of primary and middle school buildings,the typical seismic damage characteristic and causes of masonry buildings are analyzed.Then the relative earthquake resistance measures and strengthening methods are proposed.Furthermore,some suggestions are put forward for reconstruction and seismic design of rural primary and middle school buildings.
